Welcome to the QABF Assessment Tool
About This Assessment
The QABF is a standardized tool to identify the function(s) maintaining behaviour of concern. It consists of 25 items rated on a 0-3 scale across five behavioral functions: Attention, Escape, Non-Social, Physical, and Tangible.
Before You Begin:
- Identify one specific behavior to assess (e.g., "hand biting", "screaming", "property destruction")
- Complete separate assessments for different behaviors
- Base ratings on actual observations, not assumptions
- Consider recent patterns (last 1-2 weeks)
- Allow approximately 15-20 minutes to complete
Participant Information
Specify one observable behavior. This assessment is only valid for a single behavior topography.
Provide additional context that may help with interpretation

If provided, the 'Email Results' button will auto-populate this address
Rating Guide: For each item, select how often the behavior occurs in the described situation. Progress is automatically saved.

Interpretation Guide
- High (≥66.7%): Strong indication this function maintains the behaviour
- Moderate (33.3-66.6%): Possible contributing function
- Low (<33.3%): Unlikely to be maintaining the behaviour
Radar Chart Interpretation: The "shape" of the radar chart shows whether behavior is singly maintained (one dominant peak) or multiply maintained (multiple elevated scores). This helps guide multi-component intervention strategies.
